Intel NIC problems

Featured Replies

I'm having problems with my Intel NICs connecting to the my server.  I have a Supermicro MBD-X9SCM-F-O motherboard which has Intel 82579LM (Lan 1) and Intel 82574L (Lan 2).  I also have a separate Intel NIC card, Intel EXPI9301CTBLK.  On 5.0 rc5, I can connect to my server with Lan 2, but not with the others, but on 4.7, I can connect to my server with my separate card and not with the onboard Lans.  Is anybody else having these problems?

The Intel 82579LM chip has problems for the same reason that ESXi doesn't natively support it either - would be my guess.  It takes a custom build to get it to work in ESXi.  The chip is very new and isn't widely supported yet so the driver may not be included in unRAID yet.  Please note I said MAY I have no way of knowing for sure.  I'm just basing this on my experiences with the same MB and ESXi.  As to the card that works with 4.7 but not in 5.0 you might try disabling the onboard nics in the bios and see if that will let it work with 5.0.  Or configuring it manually in 5.0.  The card nic is probably detected but as the 2nd nic but unRAID only supports 1 without manually configuring the 2nd or higher nics.  This was pointed out to me recently in another thread.

Now that 5.0 is out, are there any plans, or workarounds, to get this NIC to work?

Nevermind!  Looks like it is working.
