CRC errors are usually cabling to the disks picking up electrical noise. It is most common on servers where cabling has been made to look neat by bundling all the cables together. (especially if data and power cables are bundled together) It can also be caused by poor quality SATA data cables (the pairs of conductors are supposed to be internally twisted, providing self-shielding.) or poor quality disk controller electronics, or, poor quality connections on the SATA connectors. (one conductor of a pair in the SATA cable not making a good connection)
July 15, 201213 yr If you mean CRC Errors on the files you're downloading from Usenet it could easily be the usenet provider or the post you're trying to pull down and have absolutely nothing at all to do with unRAID. So, can you give us some details as to what it is you're referring to with certainty?
July 18, 201213 yr Author I'm downloading from usenet using sabnzbd. If I restart the server, it all works perfectly fine again for a day or two, but after that the CRC errors crop up again. The same files work fine after a server restart so I don't think its the server. I'm running sabnzbd from a cache drive. Could it be the RAM, Drive or cabling issue? How can I determine which it is?
