Network problem

Featured Replies

I recently updated my hardware and everything's been running fine for several months.  I'm now not able to access the unraid box although when I connect with a terminal it appears to be up and running fine.

From any other computer in my house, I can not reach it through http, ping, or telnet.  I fear this is a network issue with my unraid box, but do not have the sysadmin experience to debug or fix.  I've replaced the ethernet cable and rebooted the router.

what's the best way to determine where the problem is?

Get on the terminal of the unraid box, login.

Type "ifconfig"  Look for a line that says "inet addr" and type that IP in your reply.  (note, you may get stuck here if you have network issues)

Type "netstat -rn"  Type in the first line of numbers in your reply.

On that first set of numbers, you likely have a 0.0.0.0 as the first number, so try to "ping x.x.x.x", where x.x.x.x is the second number (under gateway, most home owners use 192.168.1.1 or 192.168.0.1).

What is is the output of "ifconfig" and "ethtool eth0"
