August 27, 201213 yr Using a laptop with Windows 7 64 bit I am unable to access the server (running RC-5). However, when my roommate attempts to use it with his Mac, he is unable to access it even on the Public setting for SMB. The error message reads: "You do not have permission to access the server 'Citadel'" (where Citadel is the name of the server). Also, when setting the share to private, or secure, all users are unable to access it even if proper passwords are used (including root password). Although we both know that he should and can however use AFP... we are just curious as to know what is going wrong with the SMB share.
August 27, 201213 yr root is prohibited from share access. Set the correct workgroup on the Mac. No password is requested when connecting to public as guest.
August 27, 201213 yr I've changed the workgroup to the correct one and I am still receiving the same message.
August 27, 201213 yr ^^aforementioned roommate. Any more ideas as to why this might occur? Not that familiar with Mac, but did you reboot the Mac? You should probably also state what version of the Mac OS you are running. EDIT: Sorry that I missed that it was in the title ( OSX 10.6.8 ).
August 27, 201213 yr Is RC-5 the first time you have tried accessing the server from a Mac? Were you ever running 4.7 or another version that didn't cause the problem? I'm still running 4.7 for unRAID and Mac OS 10.6.8 on 4 different systems without any problems (SMB, NFS, but no AFP). I haven't attempted anything with the 5.0-x releases yet.
August 27, 201213 yr Author No we have used 4.7 for a while and had no issues connecting just like you have, but after upgrading to 5.0, and purchasing keys, we are unable to connect.
August 27, 201213 yr I restarted my computer and I still cannot access the Samba share. The same message appears. The NFS share also doesn't work.
August 27, 201213 yr Have you restarted the server? Check for any stored credentials in the Keychain Access. Delete any found for the server.
August 27, 201213 yr Author Have you restarted the server? Check for any stored credentials in the Keychain Access. Delete any found for the server. My roommate deleted the stored credentials right before you replied and the SMB share now works for his laptop (Mac). Thanks.
