Advanced Format Drives

Featured Replies

I haven't added a new drive to my unRAID array in over a year and am just about to add several.  Remembering something about Advanced Format drives when I built the system I couldn't find much about them any more.  Not sure if the drives I bought supported AF I did find a nice util from Dell that will tell you.

I don't know about advanced format but I believe all you need to do is pre clear using the pre clear script  for the drive and then add to array and hit the format button, job done.

Why care that much? Just set the system to 4k-aligned and DO NOT jumper any WD drives.
