September 30, 201213 yr ok, I use a tool called "GoodSync", and it's a great tool, been using it for 2 years. But with it, I'm facing an issue with unRAID. i created a share called "TV Shows", with split level 1, and the method used is "high-water". Now, when i want to copy all my data from source (current NAS) to destination (unRAID), what GoodSync does is create all the folders from the start, on the first disk of this share (let's assume I made this share of 3 disks). Because I set my split level as 1, that means all folder under TV Show, must remain on the same disk, and since GoodSync already created all the folders, that means all my tv shows (which is larger than my single disk) must reside on the same disk...but once the disk is full, it start giving errors. Any workaround/suggestions? So what tool/method do u use to copy your data?

(I realize that you have a program doing the actual copy but you, as a user, also have to be aware of what is going on and plan for all of the contingencies.) You need to give us details about your file structure. I suspect that you have a folder for each TV show and want to keep all of the episodes of that show on one disk. If this is the case, you need to revise your thinking. You may have to move some of the show folders (manually) with the files onto a second drive, or delete old episodes, or increase your split level so unRAID can create new show folder on a second drive to store the newer episodes.

September 30, 201213 yr Read this Wiki Entry as it explains what effect the split level has on how files are stored: http://www.lime-technology.com/wiki/index.php/Un-Official_UnRAID_Manual#Split_level It should answer your questions or give you a point from which you can formulate your exact issue. Just above this entry are explanations of Min Free Space and Allocation Method which might be of interest to you also.

I've been monitoring the copying, it seems working right now...it filled disk1 50%, and then started on disk2....it's still going on.... will update....
