September 23, 200619 yr BLKMGK, I just bought one of the 400GB Seagates today from Fry's and it checked out okay. I have a PC that I can format the drives on prior to actually using them in my unRaid server. It takes about an hour and a half to format a 400GB drive. By running the format process I am able to weed out any drive infant mortality. I now have two 400GB Seagate drives that I plan to use for my unRaid server parity drives. Regards, TCIII
September 24, 200619 yr Author The 750s are REALLY what I want but the price is just too high when I can get nearly three 400s for the price! I'm going to quickly run out of 300s to replace at this rate though - I've got three 400s on the way from this deal. For those ordering this you may want to check with Seagate to see if their $25 rebate offer is still valid and if these qualify. I have sent in one already previously (on a $99 400Gig drive!) but it stated one per household so maybe no more - I might try though
September 24, 200619 yr I ordered one of the 400 gig drives last night. i have been needing to upgrade my parity drive. Thanks for the heads up!
September 25, 200619 yr Whyyyyy ooohhh why is there no outpots in europe :'( actually there is nothing even close to this in europe 400 gig cheapest samsung is 120 euro (= 153 dollar) thats same seagate drive (yes the 400 gig, not the 750) is here 190 euro (= 242 dollar) and here we never ever get deals like this, poor europe
September 25, 200619 yr Author To be fair - there's nothing like Fry's aka Outpost here where I'm at either - it's on the other side of the country and it's a BIG country. Fry's has every electronic toy, component part, DVD, book, magazine, geek toy - whatever all under one roof. I LOVE travelling on business out that way and I always stop at Fry's! Any idea what shipping to Europe would cost? I always wonder why folsk don't get together on this kind of thing. There are some REALLY kewl things in Europe we can't get too ya' know! If shipping were reasonable just have someone here ship you a drive out after the Fry's free delivery. If the total cost worked out it might be worth it for you...
September 26, 200619 yr not a bad idea, fry charges 50,- for tranport, so thats not worth it. well, if i would order 8, it would be , but its only 1 per household
September 26, 200619 yr I believe that's only 1 rebate per household, not one HD per household. You can order 10 400GB hard drives from them at 109 each, but only get 1 rebate (if the rebate even applies to this). That would put it at $114 each, after shipping... not too shabby.
September 26, 200619 yr But, you'd have to pay to ship it back to the place you bought it from if you had a warranty claim (worse case, DOA  !!). Obviously, you'd try to get the manufacturer in your local country to replace it but often they won't play ball... Matt.

Umm, yeah - there's no limit on the number of drives. I bought 2 last time and 3 this time, only one rebate though which is usual and normal sadly. you'll note that Outpost doesn't even mention the rebate and that you have to goto the manufactuer's WEBsite to get it. <shrug>
