[SOLVED] 'error' message e 0 ?

Featured Replies

Hello all - newbie here....

Built an unraid system, worked flawlessly for ~7 months until today!

I am getting some error? message from mymain - the only thing the page displays is 'e 0'

I can access the array from my desktop using MS explorer, transfer/read files, but appear to have limited monitoring capabilities from my intranet.

When I access my bookmarked page http://tower:8080/myMain,'>http://tower:8080/myMain, I get a blank page except for e 0.

I was able to modify the address to http://tower:8080 and get a partial display

- array status

- disc status

- cache drive

- drive partitions

this info looked OK

then at the botton 'e 0'

(I am now refreshing this page and getting IE error message 'page not available'....but I can still access files from tower)

No apps running on tower, just media storage.

Parity ran 7 days ago - all OK

I believe I am running unraid version 4.7

Syslog is attached

I can see the fatal error

fatal: can't open source file `/boot/unmenu/17-unmenu-syslog.awk' for reading (No such file or directory)

I don't know why I having this error (can't read from flash drive?).  Flash drive looks in place OK.

I also don't know what the other 'failed' messages are, for example:

Oct 13 23:33:21 Tower kernel: FAT: Directory bread(block 128777) failed

Only recent activity of note was adding a 'backup' directory on the tower for my desktop & running a backup of this computer to the tower.  I was a large backup (~300GB), I did not finish correctly (got some error message), but I don't think this should have any impact on my current issue ....

The other recent files I have transferred appear to be on the tower.

I only use the web interface (no keyboard/monitor on the tower), but I can hook it up as needed.

I would greatly appreciate any help !

Run checkdisk on the flash in a PC or Mac.

Thanks -

Ran chkdsk w/no errors.  Flash drive looks OK.

Today, I can access the server via the standard Web Management Utility using:

//tower

or http://tower/main.htm

but could not access mymain not via my bookmark

http://tower:8080/myMain

I rebooted, and can now access unmenu.

Not sure why I lost it, but I got it back now!

(However, I should have tried to restart unmenu from the console.  My tower is now going through a parity check - I did not know it would run a parity check after a reboot !)

Thanks for your help !

If the server is rebooted while the array is started, it will trigger a parity check to correct any inconsistencies caused by the improper shutdown. Always use the stock unraid web menu to stop the array and reboot. There are add-ons to enable a safe shutdown from the command line if you wish to research that method.

I think I did do proper shutdown !

Any other reason why it would trigger a parity check after a startup?

I stopped the array from the unRAID Web Management page with the Stop button, then used the Power Down button.

All the lights were off when I pressed the power button to reboot.

My last parity check was 7 days ago with no errors.

All appears to be working now (36% into parity check), but not sure why I lost UnMenu & then triggered a parity check.

If unRAID cannot record the safe and proper shutdown on the flash drive, it will perform a parity check when next booted.  When you shut down, the flash drive was apparently not accessible, therefore, the clean shutdown was not recorded.

Thanks Joe - sounds right

My syslog did imply that I had some flash drive problem
