Increase from 4GB to 16GB of DDR3

Would to be a benefit to increase my unRAID memory from 4GB to 16GB of DDR3.  There is only unRAID on this server don't plan on using more than a couple of plugins airvideo and simple features.

First, check your motherboard spec to see what limits are from that standpoint.  (I found this from a quick google of your basic question!  Apparently, your motherboard is the principal limiting factor in this case.)

The reason that I am saying that is that 32bit systems are normally limited to 4Gb per process.  However, Linux can run more than one process. As an example, I have 6GB of RAM in my server and it shows up on the System profile in Simple features and in the  system stats screen.  I can only assume that it is being used.

This is the MB that I have.

ASRock 890FX DELUXE5

with a AMD FX-4100 for the processor.

I have also been thinking about playing around with ESXi and if I do so I would need the extera ram.  I have hear that AMD systems don't work well with ESXi and if not I wouldn't buy more ram if there is not benefit to unRAID.  Has anybody ran an ESXi on a simular AMD system as mine?  Thinking of running Mac OSX and/on WHS.

i currently run an amd (FX8120) on esxi (no issues at all, really give it a good going when i was revising for my vcp510 exam).  But never ran it with unraid.

4GB is more than enough for plain unraid, ESXI, more is always better.
