October 21, 201213 yr I just installed a Supermicro MBD-X9SCM-F-O board into my unRAID server and I am trying to figure out how I would setup a KVM. Setting up a KVM is completely new so I really have no idea what to do here. Does anyone have any hows to anything to help me out? I really just really need to know what to be looking at and I am sure I could figure it out.
October 21, 201213 yr Plug a network cable into the IPMI port, take a look at whatever assigns IP addresses on your network to work out what IP the IPMI port picked up, then put that IP in a web browser - you'll be accessing the console in no time. PS this is all in the manual for the motherboard!
October 21, 201213 yr Or you can install the Supermicro IPMIView app and search for it with the application.
October 21, 201213 yr Author Connecting to the IPMI is simple. What I want to do is connect as in I am able to view the system as if I was standing there in front of a monitor. Such as beng able to view it booting through the BIOS and whatnot.
October 21, 201213 yr This is exactly what IPMI lets you do. You can even install an OS iso remotely.

Such as beng able to view it booting through the BIOS and whatnot. Then you're 99% of the way there. Click the 'Remote Control' tab and open the console. Done. As mentioned, this is all in the manual, which you can get here: http://www.supermicro.com/products/nfo/ipmi.cfm - you're after the "IPMI Manual - AMI" over on the right.
