November 13, 201213 yr I have both PMS and XBMC on my two client PCs. I notice quite a bit of jitter when playing back some MKVs. When I switch over to xbmc there is no jitter. Are there any settings that I can tweak to get rid of the jitter. I am ok with using xbmc, but Pex is more GF and kid friend friendly.
November 14, 201213 yr You're not really giving us much information. XBMC is all run on the client-side, whereas Plex uses a server/client architecture. Are you running Plex Media Server on unRAID or on your individual clients? What are the specs of your server and clients? PMS has some beefier requirements than XBMC, but typically that's for transcoding. Obviously if your unRAID setup is basic, it won't excel at running PMS, but it can serve up files via SMB just fine (which is how XBMC would be handling it)... Ideally you should be running one instance of PMS on your fastest machine (be it the server or a client), with the Plex client software on both client PCs.
