Can't write to unraid server

Featured Replies

I can not write to my unraid server.  When I try to write a file it starts ok and then gets slower and slower and eventually either aborts or gets so slow it would take hours to copy a small file.

I have tried changing network cables, updating the bios and disconnecting another unraid server I have on the network with no joy.

In the syslog there are acpi errors . . .

I have tried to get rid of these but can not.  These errors were present when everything was OK.

In the attached syslog you can see errors at the end which occured when trying to copy a file to the server -

Just a thought.  I recently changed the parity drive from a 2 tb wd ears to a 3 tb wd ears.  The new drive is not jumpered but all the other disks are.  Could this be a problem?

No.

The Network is going up and down.

 Nov 24 12:12:08 Tower3 kernel: atl1c 0000:07:00.0: atl1c: eth0 NIC Link is Down
Nov 24 12:13:49 Tower3 kernel: atl1c 0000:07:00.0: atl1c: eth0 NIC Link is Up<1000 Mbps Full Duplex>

This looks like the problem.

Any suggestions about how to fix this?

Suggestions to troubleshoot would include:

1.  Test/replace Ethernet cables.  Do you have a loose/damaged RJ45 connector?  Are you using a damaged Ethernet RJ45 coupler?

2.  Do you own (or can you borrow) a LAN connectivity tester?  This can verify your CAT5/CAT6 cables are good or bad.

3.  Is your router/switch going up and down?

4.  Try connecting you unRAID server directly to your router/switch with a good Ethernet cable and likewise (directly to your router/switch) for your client computer and retest the read/write sequence.

5.  Try a different Ethernet adapter if you have one available.
