January 3, 201313 yr Author Hello All, I'd like to thank all of you that have helped me in troubleshooting my problem.(dgaschk & Joe L.) One thing is for sure. I won’t be shutting down the system next time knowing now what I have learned on how to obtain a system log through telnet_putty. I've take advise from Tom and changed to software RC8 and reseated all connections and cards. I even used compressed in the card slots just for good measure and cleaning. After upgrading to RC8 I was able to identify a drive problem with my #9 drive. It red balled. I'm not sure why I couldn't see this before but at least I did. I followed instructions on using SMART on that drive. Everything passed so it could have been a connection on power or sata. Just glad it was okay but will be keeping a good eye on all the drives from now on. I used instructions found here written by Joe L. on bringing the drive back into the Unraid system and did a rebuild with success as all of my drives are up with all my files intact and good parity. I just knew those files where there. This system couldn't have let me down that bad. But I've also learned that if I'm going to keep files of real value that I need a second or third backup just in case. (I'm not gonna say it) I have faith in this Unraid setup more so then my old (2) SanD 5 disk raid5 setup. And I'm saving energy in the process. I'm glad to have found it and the people here that help those of use that don't understand but want to learn about this system. I definitely have some more reading to do and know where I can come next time I run into... Thank you again. Chris Oh and also to note 1 of my Raid cards was bad back at the beginning of all this which I'm glad I had ordered a replacement. Gonna try an RMA on it as it has a 3 year Warranty.
