December 24, 201213 yr Okay, I've run into the same issues myself. I've not yet solved them but I've come close and I think some of what I was taught may help you. As I understand it you need to have a mount point to access the share. To do this you'll need have smbfs installed and use the mount command. the thread where i was discussing this with someone clueful can be found here -> http://aceshome.com/forums/index.php?topic=20.0 Note that we're discussing a virtual appliance that has all of this and more installed and close to ready to roll. I cannot manage to get it to use the mount I'm creating but I believe this to be a permissions issue with the appliance, something you should not have to worry about with a full desktop install I hope. When you're done look into installing Maraschino, it looks damned awesome and is a nice front-end for controlling all of the various software packages, it's what this appliance uses as an interface. http://www.maraschinoproject.com/faq
February 17, 201313 yr From your avatar, I'm assuming you're running XBMC on Ubuntu 12.1. If that's the case, in XBMC you would go to Videos, the Files, then Movies, and hit 'c' for the context menu. Select 'Edit Source', Browse for a source location, go to 'Add network location', and enter your server name (Tower, by default) and the name of the share, including any lower-level path. That's what I used to get my XBMC reading off my former WinXP 'server', and now from my shiny new unRAID machine. Of course, if you're not talking XBMC, just ignore all this because it won't make a lick of sense. Hope that helps, FreeMan
