How to downgrade rc10 to rc6-test

Featured Replies

I have had slow writing to my server (12-15 MB/s) ever since rc8 through rc10, and I would like to test rc6-test on which I was getting 24 MB/s write speed.

What would the process be for me to downgrade rc10 to rc6-test?

Asus F1A75-v Pro

4gig ram

I am running rc10-test, and I have tested the dirtyable memory=1 setting to no effect.

Can you try the mem=4095 parameter from the other thread just for the heck of it

Will do.

*updated*  I have made the change in the syslinux.cfg file, just waiting for a transfer to finish then I will re-start and test.  Will be about 1.5 hours.

No update to my write speed with the memory limiting added to my cfg file, still fluctuating between 12-15 MB/s

I tested with sysctl vm.highmem_is_dirtyable=0 and sysctl vm.highmem_is_dirtyable=1, no change

*edit*

Spoke too soon, speed is going up during a 30 gig transfer, currently 20.1 MB/s at 60% of the way through.

*edit*

15 minutes into a 600gig transfer and the speed has steadily climbed throughout the transfer and has stabilized at my previously enjoyed speed of 24.3  (might be climbing still too)

Not sure why limiting my 4gb of ram to 4gb or ram helped, but I am happy!
