Supermicro X9SCL-F and S3 Sleep

Featured Replies

I'm very happy with the mobo that I bought I recently. However my old main board provided S3 sleep, something I can't activate in the BIOS settings. Am I overlooking something?

Nope. It 's not there. Servers usually dont need sleep ;)

jowi, thanks a lot. This is a real disadvantage....I'm afraid that there is not a work around?

I have three more questions:

  1. [*]One is related to IPMI: this is a feature I'm using heavily but I do not know where the DEL key is, as I don't have that key on my Mac keyboard. Anyone with the same issue? Which key do I have to press in order to enter the BIOS settings?

[*]Secondly I have questions to the fan speed. Isn't the board controlling the fan speed itself by measuring the temperature in the case IF 4-pin fans are being used? Can anyone confirm?

[*]Lastly: shouldn't the web tool show the FRU information? All is empty, is that a matter of concern?

Thank you.

I'm using a mac as well; if i want to get into the bios, i'll use the virtual keyboard from the IPMI tool's console to mouse-click the DEL button. After that, you can use the esc, arrows and enter keys etc. to navigate.

For the fan speed, i believe Downloadski has an extensive topic on that using a X9SCM, try searching for it.

Thanks again jowi.

Yes, the virtual keyboard is an option.

I will look into the fan speed topic but I do hope that I can solve it with the correct 4-pin fans rather than any scripts or something like that.

And this FRU information; can you see the details or is it empty in your case as well?
