October 1, 200619 yr [pre]NTFS driver v1.1.22 [Flags: R/O][/pre] Um. I am running Beta 4 and I see this dmesg. Does it work?
October 2, 200619 yr Yes, but Read-Only. Ok, I need a show of hands in this thread: How many would be interested in support for this product: http://www.ntfs-linux.com/ I tested this driver maybe 18 months ago and it was dog slow. Also had some other deficiencies, but now I see it's up to release 5.0, so if there is sufficient interest, I can download the trial and re-test it. If it works ok, and there is interest, then perhaps I can negotiate a discounted rate with them for inclusion in unRAID and/or make a way for a customer to install themselves.
October 2, 200619 yr Author Well, either way I would be interested. Being able to pop in a drive (outside the array) that was NTFS and copy data to and from would be cool. If it is still REALLY slow then using it as part of the array would not be interesting at all really. If the speed is better then that would be amazing and I feel like the adoption rate for unraid would skyrocket. Had I been able to pop in all 11 of my disks and one new one and fire it up and build parity I would have been in heaven. As of right now I have been running pro for a few days and copying the data over the network is painful. I definitely think it should be an opt-in thing. I would not be for raising the price across the board for all users unless it came out to only a few dollars (read: less that five). Either have a separate build to download or a self install. A volume discount would be great but I would be interested either way. Thanks
October 2, 200619 yr interested here. I agree that NTFS would remove a major barrier to unRAID adoption for the masses.
