March 12, 201313 yr I'm sure this is possible, and I am very new to unRAID, but I am tech savvy so that almost makes up for it. I don't want to be able to see disk1, disk2, flash, etc.. when viewing my Tower from My Network Places on my Windows Machines. Is there a way to turn the visibility of these off while in SMB, but still be able to connect to the server (mainly through my Mac) and view the individual disks? I have AFP running on 5.0rc11, and I like the clean look of only seeing my shares in there, and would like that in my Windows machines too. I know that with shares you can chose on export security for SMB to be hidden. Thanks.

Select the disk from the main page and you will see the same option
March 12, 201313 yr Author Thank you! I figured it was something simple. Things are sometimes too simple. I appreciate your help!
July 7, 201312 yr Did they remove this option on RC16b? I wanted to hide my disks and leave only my shares and that option is not longer available. I can hide the flash drive tho
July 7, 201312 yr Did they remove this option on RC16b? I wanted to hide my disks and leave only my shares and that option is not longer available. I can hide the flash drive tho Just click on the disk # on the Main page. You'll see an SMB Export choice ... you can choose No, Yes, or Yes (Hidden). If you choose Yes (Hidden), you can access the disks as usual [e.g. \\Tower\disk2], but it won't show when you browse the network.
July 7, 201312 yr Yea thats exactly what i'm trying. But it only shows device settings no SMB options at all. Im using simplefeatures tho could that be the problem?
July 7, 201312 yr Yea thats exactly what i'm trying. But it only shows device settings no SMB options at all. Im using simplefeatures tho could that be the problem? May very well be. I just use the stock UnRAID Web GUI ... haven't seen any reason to replace it for basic management. I do have UnMenu installed for the UPS and CleanPowerDown packages ... but only use it when I want to check the SMART attributes or look at the UPS status or system runtime counter.
July 7, 201312 yr I can confirm it is simplefeatures. I just uninstalled it and reboot and i am able to set smb settings.
September 27, 201312 yr There is a command-line option for rectifying this problem. Goto: /boot/config Edit: disk.cfg Make sure the following lines are in place for each drive you wish to "hide": diskExport.1="-" diskSecurity.1="private" diskExport.2="-" diskSecurity.2="private" and so on... Hope this helps
