5.0-rc11 Stopping array takes long time

Featured Replies

Hi all,

I upgraded from rc8 to rc11 and I notice it takes the array longer than before to stop. Looking at the syslog, it seems to be stuck in some loop before finally stopping. The loop starts at 23:24:09.

This isn't really a problem since eventually the array stops and I can restart or shut down graciously, but still it would be interesting to know why it takes longer.

Some basic info:

11 data drives

Motherboard Asus M4A78LT-M

AOC-SASLP-MV8

4 GB ram

20130311-Array_long_stop-syslog.zip

Do you have any addons running that keep files open or is a computer on the network accessing the tower? As long as there is a file open the server won't shut down. I only experience delays in these cases else the array is stopped in 1-2 minutes. Im on RC11 now too BTW.

I do have Simplefeatures, sabnzbd and sickbeard installed. But before stopping the array I stopped sabnzbd and sickbeard. So the only interfering addon could be Simplefeatures.

The strange thing is that the webgui shows the array is stopped, and I can select/assign disks to the array while the syslog outputs the same loop.

I may have missed it, but I did not see any problems.  You stopped the array and it ... stopped!  What has been confusing to many is that Tom decided to refresh the inventory whenever the Web Management refreshes, and he does that (a simplistic version here) by unloading the UnRAID driver then reloading it and checking the inventory of drives afresh, then reporting the array structure, ready to start it.  It appears either you or your browser was reloading the page about once a second, which resulted in what looks like a loop of the unload/reload/display_of inventory_and_array.  The array appears to have actually stopped at 23:24:19.

RobJ, thanks for your reply and explanation about what should be expected behaviour. I guess it was opera who was continuously refreshing the browser before stopping itself. It's at that moment the loop of unload/reload/display_of inventory_and_array stopped in the syslog. I thought this was directly unraid's doing.

Or SimpleFeatures is refreshing it. Go to Settings, SimpleFeatures Display Settings. At the bottom is Page Refresh Interval.
