Can I rebuild the array (Red Balled Drive) & also preclear at the same time?

I got a red balled drive today I ran a SMART short test and got this back.

I had a spare already precleared so i am currently rebuilding my array with the spare. I know I can preclear the second drive while my array is being rebuilt, but the question is should I? will it affect the performance of the rebuild?

 

Also if anyone has any info on that SMART error it would be appreciated, do you think I can just run a preclear on this drive and use it as my warm-standby?

    A pre-clear will indeed use some memory, and will likely have a small impact on the rebuild time (extending it a bit).    Probably not much ... but I'd be inclined to let the rebuild finish before doing it -- no reason to run "at risk" any longer than necessary.
