what files needed if I reformat flash drive to keep config

Featured Replies

I've been using unRAID on my USB stick for a while now (4 years) and feel it's been cluttered with obsolete files, configurations and old applications. If I were to format the drive and perform a clean install/copy of unRAID on the thumb drive, what files would I need to backup and copy to make sure my configuration and license maintains valid?

Thanks

As I outlined in the link archedraft posted above, the only file you absolutely need to keep is your key [Pro.key or Plus.key depending on which version you have], and you need to be sure you know the serial number of your parity drive.

Then you can revert to a completely "clean" configuration.    If you have a lot of plugins and addons that you want to keep, you may need to keep some of their configuration info as well;  but if the goal is to get as "clean" as possible I'd reinstall those anyway.

Don't forget to make a complete copy of your flash drive before you get started -- that is the best way to ensure you can always "look" at what you had before if you're having difficulty configuring some plugin.

You may not need it, but a wiki page was set up to help with identifying and understanding files and folder organization on the flash drive.  See Files on the unRAID flash drive.  It is not complete, or authoritative.  Any corrections or improvements are welcome.
