eth0: leased *IP ADDRESS* for 7200 seconds

Featured Replies

I have been watching my unMENU system log and it appears that with my current settings unRAID 5.0 releases and renews its ip address every two hours. I have given my unRAID system a static IP address through my router. Is there a reason why unRAID needs to release and renew the IP address that often? If not, how can I can the settings to check less often?

Your router determines how long the address is good. The setting to change is in the router, not unraid.

Awesome! I just setup a pfsense box and upgraded to unRAID 5.0 so it has been difficult to pinpoint which change has caused the "issues". Any suggestions on a default lease time?

On a home network 24 hours or higher is fine

Sent from a mobile device, sorry for any typos.

The weird thing is that my home network is set to 7200 seconds but unRAID seems to be renewing every 3600 seconds. I am currently preclearing a drive and don't want to mess anything up so I'll have to play around with network setting after it completes.

Thats how DHCP works!

"The renewal process occurs when a client already has a lease, and needs to renew that lease with the server. To ensure that addresses are not left in an assigned state when they are no longer needed, the DHCP server places an administrator-defined time limit, known as a lease duration, on the address assignment.

Halfway through the lease period, the DHCP client requests a lease renewal, and the DHCP server extends the lease. If a computer stops using its assigned IP address (for example, if a computer is moved to another network segment or is removed), the lease expires and the address becomes available for reassignment."
