User Shares not Working on v4.4 and v4.5-beta1

Featured Replies

I just installed unRaid v4.4 yesterday.  I was able to create a User Share for testing purposes.  It worked fine, but then I deleted it (undo).

Since then I haven't been able to create any shares via the web admin page.  On the flash drive a "shares" folder exists, and includes the %sharename%.cfg file of the share I attempted to create via the web gui (\\tower\flash\config\shares).  The problem is that the share is not being created.  Here is the contents of the cfg file that was created:

# Generated settings:

shareExport=e

shareExportNfs=

shareComment="movie files"

shareValidUsers=

shareInvalidUsers=

shareExceptions=

shareInclude=disk1

shareExclude=

shareAllocator=highwater

shareSplitLevel=2

I have SMB disk shares set to "Export read/write", and User Shares are "Enabled".

I decided to then migrate to the newer v4.5-beta1, but the User Share issue persists.

If anyone has any tips to restore this functionality that would be fantastic!  What the heck did I do?!?

Thanks!!

There have been several reports about this, and I believe one user had found a workaround.  It's probably best to revert to v4.4-beta2 for now, until the next version is released.

I stumbled on a fix to my share issue.  My unRaid box currently has only two discs (1 TB for parity and 1TB for data).  When previously attempting to create a share I thought I had to add the value "disk1" in the "Included Disc(s):" field.

What I discovered is that to create shares I had to just leave the fields blank except for the name field and click "apply".  Since I currently have only 1 data drive I think blank is the equivalent of selecting disk1.  I've since added a comment field and split level value (to prepare when I add another disc) and the share persists as expected.

If I had a second (or more) data drive I wonder if the web GUI uses a drop down list instead of a blank text field?  Anyone?

Did anyone ever figure this out.. I have the same thing happening to my server and I am not using the beta but the 4.5 latest.
