The last few drives I got were not too bad.  They have a new bubble wrap HDD box or sleeve (for lack of a better term).  The drive goes in the bubble wrap sleeve then that is put into the cardboard shipping container.  If they would TAPE the sleeve shut and put enough paper padding around the sleeve it would be fine.  Out of about 5 drives I've purchased (desktop and laptop drives) recently packaged this way only 1 looked to be in danger of the drive coming out of the sleeve.  And as I said if they would just tape the sleeve shut even if they do there crap-tastic packaging outside the sleeve it would survive the shipper abuse.

I purchased 4x of these drives some time ago and all failed using unraid (different batches), I believe the newer 3TB are more reliable.

 

I would skip the greens and go straight for the reds
