January 7, 200917 yr Just checked and it is 5.36. I haven't done the 4.4 upgrade yet because their seems to be some problems with it yet.... 4.4.2 seems to have fixed the permissions issue, but I think the library file needed by smartctl is still missing. My syslog shows it being installed by the package manager script, and it is coded to not install it the file already exists. I'll need to disable the automatic library install and re-boot to test. January 7, 200917 yr Version 5.38 of smartctl is in the newer releases of unRAID, so that is probably what you are using. Has the missing library problem been fixed in the newer releases? Sadly, no... the library needed by smartctl 3.58 does not exist in 4.2.2 I get this error when I attempt to run "smartctl" (after I disabled my own installation of the missing c++ library and re-booted) smartctl: error while loading shared libraries: libstdc++.so.6: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory We will need to lobby Tom to add the library. When he upgraded "smartctl" several versions of unRAID ago, he did not add the support library it needed. He has said he does not use smartctl for any of the maintenance activities on his management console, so he does not test it in any of his tests. I can guess not enough people have complained to him about it being missing. (probably because those who need it can download and install it so easily through unmenu, and it gets re-installed when we reboot by the package manager script) He has had enough high visibility bugs in recent releases... I guess the missing library needed by smartctl is just not on his radar, and he has not added the missing library to his build process so far. Joe L.
