December 8, 201312 yr Have a question regarding creating your first system array. All my drives have been cleared so I setup a parity drive and my other two as data drives. I clicked the start in the "array status" area. It says on the middle of the page on the left "Spinning up all drives......." How long does this take? The web browser is just spin and nothing has refreshed or updated. The system has been "Spinning up all drives......" now for close to 4 hours. Is this expected?

It just sits there and spins without displaying any information. Also closed the browser page and attempted to reconnect to my IP of the tower. It will not display the page, I"m assuming the system is locked up?? Should I hard reset the system or is there another way. I can connect via tower:8080 but cannot get into the unRAID Main nor can I connect via my IP like before.
December 9, 201312 yr Since unmenu seems to be working i recommend using it to restart - got to tower:8080/array_management and select stop array, then go to tower:8080 to watch and make sure all the drive get unmounted, once they are to go tower:8080/user_scripts and select Power Down. Once the rig is off power on and try again.
December 9, 201312 yr I would first capture a syslog to see if it gives you any clues. (you can use unMENU's Syslog page to download a copy and then attach it to your next post for analysis.)
December 9, 201312 yr Author That worked. I restarted and now the array says "Parity-Sync In Progress". I'm assuming that's good and what I'm looking for. Once that's completed I'm assuming I'm suppose to format the remaining drives and then I'm good to go, Correct?
December 9, 201312 yr Yes, that's correct. It's simply started your initial parity sync => depending on the size of your drives and the specifics of your hardware this will likely take 6-10 hours. Then you just format the data drives (a quick process ... a few minutes) and you're ready to use the system.
December 9, 201312 yr ... You could, by the way, go ahead and do the formatting and start using the array now; but I would wait for the parity sync to complete first.
