December 16, 201312 yr I am running 4.5.6 and have 8 drives, a parity and a cache set up. Two days ago I replaced my 1.5 tb parity drive with a 2 tb drive. Everything seemed to start up as it should, but it's been 2 days and still seems to be syncing. 1. Is this normal? and 2. How do I check and see if the parity drive is still in the process of rebuilding? My front end is a mac and I'm unable to access the tower home page via safari during the rebuild. Thanks I have attached a shot of the server monitor as it currently appears. Has not changed in 48 hrs. Update Tuesday PM - The parity sync/build for the new parity drive has been running now for over 84 hours. How long does it take to sync 6 data drives with the new parity drive? I cannot access tower from my mac during the build, so is there a way to check the build status directly from the server? Thanks in advance.
December 24, 201312 yr This is totally depending on hardware. A PCI based system may take days. The version is very old and there are only a few who have experience with it and even fewer who will remember enough to help. Upgrades are free.
December 25, 201312 yr You should simply shut down the system and restart the parity sync. Since you're running without parity (e.g. "at risk") I'd upgrade to v5 before starting the new parity sync. Your version is VERY old. If there's some reason you don't want to move to v5, at least upgrade the flash drive to v.7
December 25, 201312 yr Author Thanks- I went ahead and did a hard shut down. Removed the new parity drive and replaced it with my existing. Upgraded flash to 4.7, rebooted and parity was valid. Powered down and upgraded flash to 5.04. Restarted and set up all disks as directed in read me files. Everything works exactly as it should, parity is valid. I'm in the process of building new box with a ASUS A8N-SLI, and pci express controller cards. With the software upgrade, I will go ahead and order a 4TB drive for parity and do a new parity sync with the faster SATA connections. Thanks again for your help.
