[SOLVED] Cache Drive Speeds with Plugins

Wow it would seem my cache drive could use an upgrade! I'll have to keep my eyes out for a good deal. Thank you both for your help.

As I noted some time ago (post #4), and dirtysanchez also mentioned above, you'd get far more consistent performance with an SSD cache drive ... especially with torrents.

I'd spring for a 240GB SSD (get a Crucial or Intel) ... and you'll notice a VERY large increase in your cached read and write performance !!  :)

The Samsung SSD's are also top notch. I have a 500GB Samsung EVO SSD in my gaming machine and I'm extremely pleased with it.

Well I broke down today and bought a SSD. 12 MB/s copy speeds are painful to watch! I'll update this thread with the results when the new SSD comes.

I suspect you'll be pleased with the results  :)

Don't forget, however, that the speed at which your source can read the data is also a bottleneck ... the SSD can't write data any faster than you can "feed" it.    But I'm sure they'll be both faster and more consistent than you've been seeing.  Certainly FAR faster than 12MB/s !!!

It would seem that my desktop hard drives are indeed a bottleneck. I tried coping a file from two of my desktops (with older hard drives) to the server with cache enabled and both where about 50ish MB/s. On my newest laptop I saw speeds at 100 MB/s.
