Enables NFS - Samba messed up now

Featured Replies

I enabled NFS shares so my Sickbeard/SabNzbd chould access the files - that is working from the other machine - but

after enabling them - when I try and access \\tower now - it asks for a username/password - It never used to do that before.

what did i mess up or need to look at?

ok, I made a user in unRAID, and give it a password and can use that username/password to access the samba shares - but why do I have to now - and didnt before?

It sounds like the change in Security in version 5.In Version 5, 'root' is able to 'administer' unRAID, but cannot read/write the user shares.

A logged in 'username' is required to access user shares.

Access to a 'share' is only allowed to those usernames who are authorized on each shares tab.

windows did not used to require any login/password to access the share - ex \\tower\flash - now i have to loging - but - my xbmc boxes are accessing the samba shares like they always have - no login/pass required.

Share are public/full access to everyone on the net - its only windows that has changed how it works since I enabled NFS access as well.... weird

Set NFS security for your shares to public.
