January 4, 201412 yr I am not sure if I messed up something on my system or if it's just some setting I need to fix but here is the issue: I have two users other than root and both users seem to have free reign on my system. None of the file/dir permissions I have set seem to be respected anywhere on /mnt/user but elsewhere they seem to be in effect. Before I realized /home wouldn't persist after reboot I set that as the home folders for the two users /home/todd and /home/brian and each user couldn't access the other's folder but then I realized it wouldn't persist after reboot so I moved them to /mnt/user/todd & /mnt/user/brian but on there anything goes. Any help would be great!
January 4, 201412 yr Is this a new server setup? Are you creating 'shares' via the web interface using the shares tab?
January 4, 201412 yr Remove SimpleFeatures. Its not compatible with unRAID 5. If you like its interface, replace it with 'DYNAMIX'. (see forums) If you replace it, weed out any duplicate plug-ins by keeping the Dynamix plugins and deleting those you currently have installed (which probably came with SimpleFeatures)
January 4, 201412 yr Author Is this a new server setup? Are you creating 'shares' via the web interface using the shares tab? It's been up for a few months. Shares were created using the gui via the web interface.
January 4, 201412 yr Just to clarify, are you saying that you used the webGUI to create a share named brian and a share named todd? If so, what are the security settings of those shares?
January 4, 201412 yr Author Just to clarify, are you saying that you used the webGUI to create a share named brian and a share named todd? If so, what are the security settings of those shares? Correct. I tested all the security options and no matter the settings the share seems to behave correctly when accessed via SMB on my Windows machine. But when I SSH or telnet into the tower then the permissions seem to be ignored. User brian can access share 'todd' even if it's set to chmod 700.
