February 5, 201412 yr A collegue of min has built an unraid server on my advise. Due to human error or perhaps stupidity he lost some important files from the config folder and more... Luckily he has a backup of his license key. Booting the server shows all disk slots unassigned. Unraid version is 5.0beta12a Can I just assign all disks to the slots disk1....disk24 and find out which one is the parity disk? This one should show up as unformatted?
February 5, 201412 yr Can I just assign all disks to the slots disk1....disk24 and find out which one is the parity disk? This one should show up as unformatted? Correct. As long as you don't assign a disk to the parity slot, you should be ok. If you show more than one unformatted, stop, get a syslog, and post it.
February 5, 201412 yr Author And so be it. Was looking for confimation. One disk showed up unformatted and is assigned as parity. Running parity sync as I wirite this. Will be finished over 12 hours.

February 6, 201412 yr Author Parity rebuild stalled overnight. I discovered REISERFS errors in the syslog. Looks like his SAS2LP controller failed. I replaced it with a flashed M1015. Rebooted with fingers crossed. Did a reiserfsck on all disks and disks checked ok. Parity rebuild runs with speed of 100 MB/sec. System seems more responsive overall. Hope everything works out OK.
