February 15, 201412 yr Hi there, Doing a lot of reading, and getting pretty excited to start playing with Version 6 and virtualization. Is there any place I can get some idea on whether my box will support it? It seems that Xen has some pretty specific requirements... So is that a good guide? Will my box (in my footer) support VMs? Thanks...

This will likely become a wiki thing, but it's so new, and dynamic that the wiki would quickly become out of date as people are finding new information daily. Right now the forums are where you want to be (specifically these virtualization forums) as it has the most up-to-date information.

Thanks... As to your question on your current config... your CPU should support basic virtualization (VT-X) - just not pass-through (VT-D). You can always check http://ark.intel.com to see what features your CPU supports. For your motherboard, you will need to check the BIOS and see if there is a Virtualization or VT-X option to enable. You can run basic VMs without these features, but to take full advantage of virtualization VT-X capabilities (on Intel CPUs) is considered the bare minimum you usually want.
