January 21, 200917 yr OK, why are all my files marked as hidden Operating system files? In XP I had to show hidden OS files in order to see them, even with the dir command. Yet, If I type ls from the xp pro sp3 cmd line I would see them. It scared me at first, when I thought I lost my WAR movies (Some of my dvd are no longer readable!!). This holds true for user security on or off. The \ are actually spaces. -rwxrwxrwx 1 root root 3917293568 Sep 14 2005 TO\ END\ ALL\ WARS\ (DVD_RIP).ISO* -rwxrwxrwx 1 root root 2148050944 Sep 27 2005 TO\ HELL\ AND\ BACK\ (DVD_RIP_2CH).ISO* -rwxrwxrwx 1 root root 734468096 Aug 5 2003 TORA!\ TORA!\ TORA!\ [DVD-XVID]\ .avi*
January 21, 200917 yr First of all, you will get along much better if you NEVER EVER USE SPACES in file names. Replace them with underscores. In Samba, the "execute" bit is seen as the "system" bit.... so files with +x in Linux look like system files to Samba in XP. This is because unRAID sets the file permissions to "711" to all files written through samba to the Array. See this thread: http://lime-technology.com/forum/index.php?topic=3138.0
