Hanging at sysklogd :Bumped

Featured Replies

I've upgraded unraid from 4.3.3 to 4.4.2 and it now boots up to the point where it start the sysklogd but hangs there. There is no network connectivity but the system still detects when I pull the USB key out.

Similar problem to http://lime-technology.com/forum/index.php?topic=1734.msg11961#msg11961 thread.

I noticed that there was an issue with WINS in a previous enviroment and it is not the Motherboard that is at fault. I have tested this on two different Motherboards with the same result.

I've attempted switching acpi and apic as recommended by a thread, but to no avail.

Anything else I should attempt before giving up?

Thanks

Steve

How do you know 'system still detects when I pull the USB key out'?

For upgrade are you sure you copied over both bzimage and bzroot?

When I pull the USB Key out the console states that the key has been removed. And when I put it back it again states that it has found a usb key. Standard Linux functionality.

I've upgraded as instructed from 4.3.3 and every time in the past It's worked fine. As the image unpacks without any errors I summise that I have correctly copied to files over. And yes both bzimage and bzroot.

Not sure how to proceed here as I can't access the Syslog as the network has not been brought up. And the console does not give a prompt.

Thanks.

If it is doing the same thing with 2 different motherboards, then there is probably a problem with the way the flash drive is set up.  A few users had problems when upgrading, and found that using a newer syslinux on their flash drive fixed it.  Please see the USB Flash Drive Preparation page for more info.  In particular, check what is currently the fourth fifth to last tip on the page.
