I've setup a VM in ESXi 5.1 that runs unRAID directly - without a USB stick. For some odd reason I can't get data to persist between reboots. I get an error on boot, even though everything works fine (except for the persist issue). The error is:

 

waiting for /dev/disk/by-label/UNRAID (will check for 30 sec)...

 

Any ideas?

 

I've labeled the disk "UNRAID" per the instructions..

make a separate 1G container, it needs to be IDE interface and labeled UNRAID

Thanks - I actually just used 1 IDE node and it works.

Np, the trick is the detection only works on IDE, not scsi or sata
