miniDLNA setup help please

Featured Replies

Hi, I installed minidlna and I am not sure what to put in the blacks for setup... Could some one please help me here? My music is @ Tower/My Music/...

I plugged in 2 possible ways but neither one is working plus I see an error in the top right hand side of the image.

It is looking for a directory in the linux file system.  So if your music is in Tower\My Music you would use /mnt/user/My Music. At least thats how mine is...

Thanks for the help,

So would this be the correct way... /mnt/user/My_Music all going on Media directory 1? I have also tried it like this /mnt/user/My Music  and it still is not working but I do not get the error that was in the upper right hand side of the screen anymore.

If the directory name in Windows is My Music then I think you will need to try "/mnt/user/My Music" as the directory.  If you need to check the actual Linux name then you can telnet into Tower and do:

ls /mnt/user/

It will give you the names like this

r:~# ls /mnt/user

Backup/  Documents/  Media/

the music on my system is in Media/  Which is spread across two real drives.

I recommend that you don't use spaces in a share name. It will only make things more difficult, because at some point when working with it you will have to either escape the space with a backslash, or put the whole path in quotes.

Linux normally treats spaces as delimiters, the end of one thing and the beginning of something else. In fact, Windows does the same thing if you try to work with it at the command line.

Thanks everyone, I removed the spaces on the shares and now it works! ;D

I have noticed that my Samba has stopped working since I installed miniDLNA... Is this normal? I need Samba so I can access the drives through windows to find duplicate files as I have been re ripping all mt cds in FLAC and they are going into the same folders that my MP3 originals were in. Without Samba I am unable to use windows explorer to find the duplicate files. I tried turning off minidlna but it made no difference.

Any suggestions as to how to get Samba working with minidlna or removing minidlna?

tia,

Ron

Sorry, no issues here using minidlna and samba constantly with no reboots.

Strange thing is today it started to work again... When it wasn't working I had tested it on 2 different computers too. I did numerous reboots of the pc and the NAS too. Oh well at least it is working again now.

Thanks for the response anyway. :)
