No shares rebuilding new, bigger drive

Featured Replies

Aren't I supposed to be able to see and access my shares when the server is rebuilding a drive?

I stopped the array, pulled out a 1TB data drive and replaced it with a 2TB drive that I pre-cleared. I assigned the new disk to the old location, and restarted the array. The drive is rebuilding now, (yellow dot) but I have no shares visible.

Unraid says that it's going to be another 7+hours and I need to access to some of my data. Should I just cancel the rebuild for now and start again before I go to bed tonight?

Ver 5.0-rc16c

I just now noticed that unraid thinks my cache drive isn't formatted any longer. Huh.

Yeah... the whole rebooting thing helps. :P

You should be able to see and access your shares.  Everything will work appreciably slower, but it should nevertheless work.

If you're going to stop the rebuild (I'd recommend against doing that), be CERTAIN that you cleanly stop it => you do NOT want to do a "dirty" shutdown.  The best thing is to wait for the rebuild to complete.

If you need to access some of your data, I'd just get it off your backups instead of using the array.
