garycase
Two things stand out ... (a) It's only 100TB ... that's easily within the realm of a single UnRAID server (using 6TB drives) and (b) Netflix accounts for 34% of internet traffic during peak evening hours !! Wow !!! Quote Link to comment
c3
guess you missed this part... "The most recent generation holds over 200 TB of Netflix in a single box. That's about eight years of video. That's totally absurd". Though I do not agree with the last sentence Since it is 36 drives, it will be in between unRAID and BackBlaze. My test boxes are 420TB raw. Quote Link to comment
garycase
Yes, I missed that. I saw the note that "... The beefier Rev. C units come in flavors that offer 120TB to 160TB ..." after I'd posted the note above, but didn't read the rest where it noted what they're planning next (200TB). For anything beyond the movies I have on my UnRAID server, I'll just pay Netflix their $7.95/month and stream ... but if I ever come across one of those 200TB boxes in a garage sale ... c3
It'll be a while before 6TB drives end up on the garage floor... It's a caching box so the design requirements are a bit different from unRAID. It needs to take updates at over 1Gb/s, for hours. Quote Link to comment
garycase
Yes, I'm well aware of the differences between this box and an UnRAID server ... and I was definitely being "tongue-in-cheek" with regards to finding one at a garage sale !! Quote Link to comment
