October 12, 201411 yr Hello all. I've been using the SNAP plugin to run SABnzbd, Couchpotato, and Sickbeard on an old 120 GB HD I had laying around. Up until very recently, I was using the free version of Unraid, so no cache drive, but I have now purchased a license. So I'm wondering, should I just leave my setup as-is, or should I convert the old drive to a cache drive and have those apps run from there? Is there a good reason not to do this? Second question is, how do I go about doing this (if this is the best route to take)? Is it as simple as just assigning the SNAP partition as the cache drive? Or will I need to re-install the plugins after assigning the cache drive? Sorry if this is a very basic question, but I could not find the answer anywhere. Thanks

So, based on the limited information you have given here, I'd say leave it be exactly as is. If you want the speed benefits of caching array writes, I'd purchase a SSD larger than the most you would write to the array from your network computers on a typical day. What kind of speeds do you see writing to the array currently?

The speed is good enough for my purpose. Is there any other benefit to a cache drive than write speeds? If not, I'll just leave it as it is.
