I am looking for recommendation on what cheap controller that supports 3+tb harddrivers.

    Assuming you have a PCIe x8 slot available (you didn't answer my question r.e. what interface), there are many alternatives discussed in the thread C3 linked to.  I like the Supermicro AOC-SAS2LP-MV8, which is used by a lot of folks with UnRAID.

     

    If you don't have an x8 slot, you need to note what interface you DO have and we can suggest alternatives.
