Share Empty

Featured Replies

I recently had a drive go bad. I replaced the drive and rebuilt it from the parity. Now one of the shares which used that drive as one of its drives is empty. If you go to the individual disks files are there but when you open the share it is blank.

Any thoughts?

I attached the syslog. I do see a lot of errors but do not know why

syslog.zip

I had similar share issues once, running the permissions utility fixed it.

I tried and nothing. I did see this when I telnet into the drive

?????????? ? ?      ?      ?                ? Manhattan

Manhattan is the one that I think is hanging everything up. I keep getting permission denied when trying to access it

The syslog that was posted states that there is corruption at the Reiserfs level.  The disk has therefore been mounted in read-only mode.

To verify this as the issue (and as the first step towards recovering from this) you should:

  • Stop the array and then restart it in maintenance mode
  • From a telnet/console session run a command of the form
    reiserfsck --check /dev/md?
where ? corresponds to the disk number you want to check.

The results of running this command will tell you whether any corruption is detected, and if it is suggest a way of correcting it.    It might be a good idea to check back here before taking corrective action as doing it wrong is likely to lead to data loss.
