A cautionary tale

Last night my tower quit responding and when I hooked up a monitor it said something about out of memory, no processes to kill and had crashed.

I rebooted got messages that libcrypt could not be loaded when emhttp tried to start so the array was not available, I couldn't got to the webpage, obviously.  I then noticed in the log that the openssl plugin was not installing correctly anymore and the first thing it does is remove libcrypt, so I moved all my plugins out.  I guess openssl was installing prior to emhttp getting up and runing, I've never have never noticed this race condition before.  emhttp then started up and began a parity check.

When I looked into it further I noticed that my cache drive was full.  I'm thinking you don't want your cache drive to fill up while copying files to it.

I'm not sure why the plugins broke as well.  Instead of trying to figure that out I took the opportunity to upgrade unraid, since I had the array up and running cleanly plugin free.  Three hours later I had most everything back running, most importantly crashplan.

Don't let you cache drive fill up, bad things happen.
