iStarUSA 5-in-3 Hot-Swap Cage $50 after rebate and code @ Newegg

Featured Replies

wow.  this seems like a really deal.  Maybe it is time to replace couple of my cooler master 4 in 3 cages.  It seems like it gets good enough reviews and half the price of the supermicro...  Anyone have first hand experience with the most recent model?  Do I need any special cables for this?

This is an excellent price. This model is usually $104. Even without the rebate, $60 is a great price. I have the same model but with the blue handles. One problem is replacing the fan is very difficult. I have 14 drives using three of these drive cages and each cage has a thin 80mm fan. When I opened  up the cage and tried to pull the back off the fan cable was plugged into the circuit board with a VERY short cable and if I were to pull the connection out I may have never been able to re-connect it again since it was so short. A very long needle nose pliers with a good grip would help. All my fans are still working, I just wanted to give them a good cleaning. I cleaned them the best I could with a vacuum. I try not to use canned air, since that just blows the dust around. If you are building a new build, I would get these cages. Can't beat the price.
