How to copy only newest files from a certain User share drive between two unraid

Featured Replies

Is there way to sync files from a certain user share directory between two diifferent unraid systems?  I also need the process to occur using only the unraid systems and not use another PC on the network.  I was hoping I could have the script also run once a week at around 2am every week.  Is this possible?  I believe it is, but I am a total newbie when it comes to linux.

We have some great scripters on this board, and some with extensive knowledge of rsync, but until they are available, here is some helpful reading:

* Getting Started with unRAID

* FAQ - "How is a Linux console different from a Windows console?"

* How-To's - Transferring Files from a Network Share to unRAID

* UnRAID Add Ons - Monthly parity check - an example of a script using cron (the Linux scheduler for scripts)

* UnRAID Topical Index - rsync

rsync is perfect for what you want to do.

Follow the suggested links in the thread (rsync), then follow the threads from the WIKI.

There will be information to help you.

Once there we can help with any more complex issues.

Do you have to install rsync before you can use the command or is it already preinstalled in unRaid 4.3?
