ctviggen
Hi all, I upgraded from 4.7 to 5.0.6, and ran the new permissions utility. Now, I have several programs that seem to be unable to write to the unraid server. For instance, I have a program called moneydance, which I use to store financial data. The program cannot update its data, which is stored on the unraid server. I'm using Windows 7 to access the server and run the programs. Squeeze server, which is a music program, no longer plays music files, although it seems to read from them. Is there something I need to do to get the permissions set correctly so programs can write/update their data? Thank you. Link to comment
garycase
Is there any problem seeing your data via Windows Explorer? Did you have password-protected user accounts set up on v4.7 that the programs may be trying to access? If so, you may simply need to change the programs so they don't try to use those accounts (or set up corresponding accounts on v5). Link to comment
ctviggen
No, I did not have any user accounts. I could see the data find in Explorer but the programs couldn't write to the drives. I had to reboot, and that has solved one problem. I believe rebooting all four computers will solve the other problems (Windows Media Center couldn't find recorded TV, Squeeze server wasn't working, etc.). Link to comment
garycase
Yes, you likely need to reboot all of your systems - especially if you're using mapped drives. If you didn't change the name of the server then you effectively have a DIFFERENT system with the same name, so it's confusing to systems that have drives mapped to that. A reboot should resolve that with no problem. Even if you're not using mapped drives, cached data could easily cause problems as well. Reboot all of your systems and then see if you still have any issues Link to comment
