October 31, 201510 yr If I install this controller UGT-ST622 which has two internal SATA ports and two external eSATA ports, will the eSATA ports work with Unraid 6.1.3? If I connect an external enclosure with three disks in it to the external eSATA port, will the three disks be presented to UnRaid?

If the external box presents all three drives as a single unit then yes there will be no problem. If it presents all three drives as separate disks, then it should still work (as that board supports port multipliers), but you will probably run into bandwidth issues during parity checks / rebuilds. Also note that the controller has 4 ports, but only two of them are usable at any time (selected via jumpers). IE: You can't use both internal ports and an esata.
October 31, 201510 yr Author Good catch I didn't notice that its internal SATA or eSATA, thanks. Why do you say that if the external enclosure presented three disks as separate disks I might run into bandwidth issues? Is it because all three disks would be competing for I/O through the one eSATA port?
