can't create shares or create folders on existing shares

Featured Replies

I upgraded to unraid 6 last month and a couple of weeks ago i started having problems creating folders on my shares and docker apps started crashing. I tried reformatting my flash drive and installed the now latest version of unraid over the weekend but the issue is still occurring. If I try to create a new share the existing shares become unavailable, the web interface is unavailable, and I can't even shut it down with the power off command. The whole system just locks up. I have to hard reset it to bring it back online. Attached are diag logs taken immediately after trying to create a folder on one of my shares. Not sure if this means one of the drives is going bad or what but not sure what to look for in the logs. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

I would run file system checks on all your drives to see if there is any file system level corruption that might explain your problems.  The log shows an error mentioning disk7, but that could just be a coincidence.  Also worth running a memory test from the unRAID boot menu just to check that there are no RAM related issues as that can have unpredictable side-effects.  If everything checks out OK them maybe a good idea to run Tools->New Permissions to check all permissions are correct.

I ran checks on all data disks in my array and disk 7 did come up with file system corruption. It said to run check with --rebuild-tree option. I did this and it did repair several errors. I can now create folders on my shares again. Disk 7 is where my docker image and docker app settings were stored so that may explain the instability with those as well. I'm still setting up docker apps again so hopefully I'm not speaking too soon but at least for now all appears to be working again.

Thanks.
