February 9, 201610 yr Hi All I have attached an external hardrive to my unRAID box and pass it through to Windows 7 VM. I can see it in device manager but it needs a driver to be installed for "USB Mass Storage Device" , which driver do I use to install ? Regards
February 10, 201610 yr What if you set the device up using the Unassigned Devices plugin? I recently experimented with setting up a docker app on a USB2 128GB Storage device and that worked (it is SLOW, but that is because of the USB2 interface I am forced to use but it didn't cost me a port that I don't currently have to spare) - I'm not sure what additional requirements would have to be met to pass a device through a VM, but it seems to me the first step would be making the external device accessible and addressable by Unraid. Unassigned Devices also supports scripts, so you can have it react to specific USB devices in predefined ways when they are attached. It might work - costs you nothing to try it except the time to preclear it/format it and to install the plugin. You can get the plugin from the Community Apps plugin, if you don't already have that. I advise you to carefully read the information on Unassigned Devices before you use it. (Took me a couple hours before I figured out why I couldn't format my USB Drive. Just need to RTFM!)
