February 20, 201610 yr I had the same thought as Drider => with the current deals on E5-2670's that seems like a lot better choice. Note that a pair of E5640s score 8885 on PassMark; a pair of E5-2670's score 18,398 => more than double the performance of the E5640 configuration. In fact, a single E5-2670 scores 12,518 ... almost 50% more than a pair of E5640s.
February 20, 201610 yr Note also that none of the motherboards you listed has more than a single PCIe x16 slot, whereas you can easily get 3 PCIe x16 slots in boards that support the E5-2670s [e.g. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813182348 ]
