I ran some tests yesterday between VM and baremetal. 3d performance takes about a 10% hit, which isn't all that unexpected and I can live with. But 2d performance takes about a 50% hit across all the tests, and it's quite noticeable when moving/resizing windows.

 

Is there anything I could look into, or some tweak I could do to improve this?

 

GTX960/Win10/OVMF

Can you share your hardware specs along with your VM's XML?  Also, do you have any other plugins or containers running on the system?

Well, hardware specs are in the sig. I also run MineOS and Pf-Logstash dockers, along with an OpenELEC VM. I isolate the Win10 VM CPU's in syslinux.cfg with "isolcpus=4-11".

Also curious as to why this might be happening!

I would also like to know why this is happening. I have a 10 core Xeon with 980ti and also get very poor 2d performance. Passmark performancetest 2d tests are especially low in my W10 VM.

I don't really have anything to add, but I found that playing around with core assignments I was able to get slightly better performance, but still not great. It might just be a case of finding the "sweet spot".
